In desperate need of this information, god bless you for trying to help. I am looking for a cardiac stem cell center in India, or anywhere on the face of the earth, that offers somewhat cheaper services, I simply cannot afford it at locations in Mexico or Thailand it is too expensive. moreOpen Question: Why do we accept death?
I'm sure there are many who will claim that they fear the loneliness, or the boredom, but is that really logical? Would you kill yourself at this moment just for being bored or lonely? What about ten, or fifty years from now? Maybe some people think about suicide but the truth is that most would not volunteer their own expiration at any given time even during very bad circumstances. So you think you'll find paradise? If that's true, then logically, there's nothing keeping you here. I'm serious, if you could choose to take a plane trip to live forever in the most ideal place imaginable, and everything was taken care of here (as I'm sure you're planning on it being upon reaching old age) there would be no reason not to. So why don't people throw themselves into situations that might end with this paradise (not suicide, really), the same way one might try and grab the opportunity to make more money and improve their circumstances HERE on earth? Because you have doubts. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you're not 100% sure if this life ending won't be the final end. So that being said, why accept death? Do you honestly think that, with the rate at which we're advancing in the fields of genetics and stem cell research (which don't have to come from embryos, remember) that we'll always and for all time be subject to errors in cell division, as well as other various issues that beset us as we age? I feel this question needs to be asked because of how often death is brought up here, and how people just see it as a staple of existence. This just seems short sighted to me, to think in terms of such absolutes even while we sit on the verge of breaking through them. I guess overpopulation and the fact only certain people would get it is the only other real issue, even that theory doesn't fit with how we live now, accepting all the treatment we need to live far beyond our predecessors and only getting it in certain more advanced societies. That, and some vague and misguided sense of morality which can't really be conveyed into a logical argument. Also the sun blowing up, which also seems to come up a lot, is hardly consequential since I think millions of years will be more than enough to colonize other systems. Green Baron: Wow, mindblowing story. Thanks for that insight. moreResolved Question: Why do Christians hate science?
*I'm not talking about every single one of them, you individually may not apply, I'm referring to the majority of Christians* They deny Evolution, despite mountains of evidence, and want science textbooks changed across the country to include "my imaginary friend did it" as a plausible alternative. They don't understand that homosexuality occurs in nature, that other animals (including other primates as ourselves) engage in that kind of activity. They don't understand the embryonic development of fetuses, that a fertilized egg is just a bunch of cells. They don't understand the benefits of stem-cell research, and aggressively tried to oppose it. There are other examples I didn't mention. It wouldn't be a such problem, if it wasn't that they are HIGHLY involved the political and social structure/development of this country (United States). Their beliefs effect everybody. moreOpen Question: How can I apply to get stem cell injections for MS?

To: Conservatives and Republicans I, and my fellow signatories, hereby make these promises to you: 1. We will always respect you for your conservative beliefs. We will never, ever, call you "unpatriotic" simply because you disagree with us. In fact, we encourage you to dissent and disagree with us. 2. We will let you marry whomever you want, even when some of us consider your behavior to be "different" or "immoral." Who you marry is none of our business. Love and be in love -- it's a wonderful gift. 3. We will not spend your grandchildren's money on our personal whims or to enrich our friends. It's your checkbook, too, and we will balance it for you. 4. When we soon bring our sons and daughters home from Iraq, we will bring your sons and daughters home, too. They deserve to live. We promise never to send your kids off to war based on either a mistake or a lie. 5. When we make America the last Western democracy to have universal health coverage, and all Americans are able to get help when they fall ill, we promise that you, too, will be able to see a doctor, regardless of your ability to pay. And when stem cell research delivers treatments and cures for diseases that affect you and your loved ones, we'll make sure those advances are available to you and your family, too. 6. Even though you have opposed environmental regulation, when we clean up our air and water, we, the Democratic majority, will let you, too, breathe the cleaner air and drink the purer water. 7. Should a mass murderer ever kill 3,000 people on our soil, we will devote every single resource to tracking him down and bringing him to justice. Immediately. We will protect you. 8. We will never stick our nose in your bedroom or your womb. What you do there as consenting adults is your business. We will continue to count your age from the moment you were born, not the moment you were conceived. 9. We will not take away your hunting guns. If you need an automatic weapon or a handgun to kill a bird or a deer, then you really aren't much of a hunter and you should, perhaps, pick up another sport. We will make our streets and schools as free as we can from these weapons and we will protect your children just as we would protect ours. 10. When we raise the minimum wage, we will pay you -- and your employees -- that new wage, too. When women are finally paid what men make, we will pay conservative women that wage, too. 11. We will respect your religious beliefs, even when you don't put those beliefs into practice. In fact, we will actively seek to promote your most radical religious beliefs ("Blessed are the poor," "Blessed are the peacemakers," "Love your enemies," "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God," and "Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."). We will let people in other countries know that God doesn't just bless America, he blesses everyone. We will discourage religious intolerance and fanaticism -- starting with the fanaticism here at home, thus setting a good example for the rest of the world. 12. We will not tolerate politicians who are corrupt and who are bought and paid for by the rich. We will go after any elected leader who puts him or herself ahead of the people. And we promise you we will go after the corrupt politicians on our side FIRST. If we fail to do this, we need you to call us on it. Simply because we are in power does not give us the right to turn our heads the other way when our party goes astray. Please perform this important duty as the loyal opposition. I promise all of the above to you because this is your country, too. You are every bit as American as we are. We are all in this together. We sink or swim as one. Thank you for your years of service to this country and for giving us the opportunity to see if we can make things a bit better for our 300 million fellow Americans -- and for the rest of the world. A couple years ago I used the Allyn & Bacon Guide to Writing book for college and I remember in the "writing to different audiences" section there was a drawing of a group of 6 or 7 people circling around a stem cell with different perspectives of what they saw. A new study out of Yale University confirms what argumentative liberals have long-known: Offering reality-based rebuttals to conservative lies only makes conservatives cling to those lies even harder. In essence, schooling conservatives makes them more stupid. From the Washington Post article on the study, which came out yesterday: Political scientists Brendan Nyhan and Jason Reifler provided two groups of volunteers with the Bush administration's prewar claims that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. One group was given a refutation -- the comprehensive 2004 Duelfer report that concluded that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction before the United States invaded in 2003. Thirty-four percent of conservatives told only about the Bush administration's claims thought Iraq had hidden or destroyed its weapons before the U.S. invasion, but 64 percent of conservatives who heard both claim and refutation thought that Iraq really did have the weapons. The refutation, in other words, made the misinformation worse. A similar "backfire effect" also influenced conservatives told about Bush administration assertions that tax cuts increase federal revenue. One group was offered a refutation by prominent economists that included current and former Bush administration officials. About 35 percent of conservatives told about the Bush claim believed it; 67 percent of those provided with both assertion and refutation believed that tax cuts increase revenue. In a paper approaching publication, Nyhan, a PhD student at Duke University, and Reifler, at Georgia State University, suggest that Republicans might be especially prone to the backfire effect because conservatives may have more rigid views than liberals: Upon hearing a refutation, conservatives might "argue back" against the refutation in their minds, thereby strengthening their belief in the misinformation. Nyhan and Reifler did not see the same "backfire effect" when liberals were given misinformation and a refutation about the Bush administration's stance on stem cell research. MOST OF YOU JUST PROVED THE POINT THE STUDY IS MAKING. Congratulations moreOpen Question: How to raise money for stem cell treatments?

moreOpen Question: Republicans, if I was running for public office would you consider voting for me?
I am a democrat, but a moderate, not a liberal. Below are issues where i either partially or fully agree with the republicans. Gun Control: While I believe that guns should be kept out of the hands of dangerous criminals, I support the second amendment. Defend your home, go out and hunt, just be safe. I believe it is unnecessarily to tax guns and ammunition on top of the already existing state sales tax. Abortion: More pro life than pro choice. I do not believe that it should be outlawed fully, but believe that after the first few weeks, it should be outlawed due to the fact that the fetus is now conscious and feels the pain of the abortion. At this stage, it should be done only to save the life of the mother. Also, abortion should not be a free service, it should be a service you pay for, unless it is a case of rape, incest, or if the mother would die in child birth. This eliminates abortion as birth control and creates revenue for the government. Affirmative action: Harmful to true equality. Obama is wrong to support it. Military: Raise the salaries of our heroes and increase funding to troops in Afghanistan. Catching Bin Laden is a top priority. This is something I praise Obama for doing. Economy/stimulus money: Should be going specifically to education, tax cuts, pay raises for military personal, and public works projects for green energy jobs. Taxes: I will not now, nor will I ever support trickle down economics, Reaganomics etc. However, I would lower taxes on the wealthy. With trickle down, the working class cannot invest in themselves because they pick up the burden of the top five percent not paying taxes. However, if the rich are taxed at the high rate they are now, it is difficult for these companies to reinvest in new jobs. There can be a balance here. The wealthy would pay on no more than five percent of their income, and by wealthy I mean those making 150'000 plus a year. I would give tax credits to small businesses who offer health benefits to employees, and per employee hired. A low tax rate, combined with cutting wasteful spending will fund the stimulus money and may lead to a budget surplus. Immigration: If they get a visa, work for equal wages in the competitive market, they are welcome in my book. This is the land of opportunity. But, if they hop the fence and take American jobs for half pay, immediate deportation. No amnesty, and increase border patrol funding. An immigrant should not be eligible for workers compensation if they are not legal residents. I consider myself a moderate, blue dog democrat. A JFK democrat and Teddy Roosevelt progressive. I voted for Obama and generally approve of him, but do think there are some things he has done wrong. I can't see myself voting against him in 2012. Again, I am a democrat, just not a liberal. I voted for Bill Richardson in the NH primary. Above are the issues where I either partially or fully agree with the republicans. I support the democrats on all other issues, such as Iraq withdrawal, same sex marriage, health care reform, stem cell research, anti-torture, medicaid and medicare, and welfare (as long as it is temporary for laid off workers and not a way of life) Resistance, sorry, forgot your energy question. I support Nuclear energy, wind energy, solar energy and clean coal. Resistance: I support free trade with free countries. Communist countries, such as China, Cuba, North Korea, etc should not be dealt with. However, companies that ship jobs overseas would not be eligible for tax cuts. As far as the drug war, all illegal drugs would stay illegal, except for medical Marijuana. moreVoting Question: 1. What ethical considerations are associated with stem cell research and cloning?

stem cells are produced from the bone marrow but remains within the bone to actively rejuvenate the bone marrow to produce more stem cells which can be induced by the AFA (an extract from the Blue Green Algae) acting as a catalyst to diperse the stem cells to all parts of the body to repair damaged tissues, organs and even the brain cells. moreResolved Question: Broken friendships...I need your input please.:-)?
So where do I begin, and this is going to be a bit long... I had these two friends who I was very close with. The three of us were like sisters. We had been close friends since 2004 and then last year everything went wonky. In December of 2007, one of them was diagnosed with cancer (hodgkin's lymphoma to be exact) for the third time. When this occured, my other friend was out of the country and I texted her, but she couldn't make it back immediately due to where she travelled-well according to her. I was there for my friend since day 1. I really felt that I was a good friend to her, and I hate bringing that up because I did it from the bottom of my heart. One weekends I would go spend the entire day with her at the hospital, trying to cheer her up. When other friend returned, she was there for my sick friend as well. Well more so than me because I had to work during the day and she has wealthy parents, so she didn't have that responsibility. Therefore, she had a flexible schedule, which was great because my sick friend's mom needed to breaks and also time to get errands done. This didn't last though because my friend (one that was gone on the trip) moved back to her home town in March, after living here for 5 years. That same month my sick friend began the stem cell transplant process and that was a difficult thing for her to go through and this is when she began avoiding me.... And when she was sent home, I began messaging her on facebook (she had a hard time talking after the intensive chemo, so I wasn't going to call her) asking if I could come over on the weekends to keep her company (I knew she was lonely and depressed), but she kept making up excuses, like she was tired or that something else was up. I, of course, understood and told her to let me know when it would be ok to come over to spend time with her. Later I realised they were just excuses because when my other friend finally returned to the city, my friend who was ill immediately let her visit. I was honestly heartbroken because she didn't want to see me and I have no idea why. What did I do to her? Anyway, she eventually deleted me from facebook and pretty much cut me out of her life. I didn't email her nor called her because I guess I am too proud. If she didn't want to be my friend, then ok, I accept it. I just don't understand why? All I ever showed her was loyalty and support during her darkest moments? Why would she want to hurt me this way? I eventually cut out my other friend from my life because it hurt too much to see their recent pictures on facebook. I also always seemed to think that they were closer and I always felt like the outsider, so maybe they never really cared about me. I really don't know. It really hurts me to this day...:-( Anyone here been through something similar? moreResolved Question: X-files movie question (easy 10 pts)?

Week 156-7 “Mum back amongst the living”
Two weeks have passed since I last added to our Blogg and as usual it passes so quickly. Jill and I had planed to be in Hervey Bay this week to enjoy the warmth and the company of our kids. However as can be seen we are still at home. Mum has been back at St Catherine’s for a couple of weeks but has had an up and down experience. Last weekend she keeps telling everyone that she had to go and she wanted to see all the family before she could go. It was a pleasure when I went the other day and s moreMolecular Differences Found Between Embryonic Stem Cells And Reprogrammed Skin Cells
ScienceDaily for July 3, 2009 reported on differences between embryonic stem cells and reprogrammed skin cells. The data from the study suggest that embryonic stem cells and the reprogrammed cells, known as induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, have overlapping but still distinct gene expression signatures. The differing signatures were evident regardless of where the cell lines were generated, the methods by which they were derived or the species from which they were isolated, said Bill Low moreStem cell research gets help from cancer cells for survival
A new protein known as TERT has been discovered which was previously known to be effective in regenerating DNA telomere. But presently a research shows that this preotein is potent to make adult stem cells divide. What does that indicate? A molecule called telomerase, best known for enabling unlimited cell division of stem cells and cancer [...] moreA Baldness Cure of the Future
Modern medicine is always coming up with new ideas. The rate of progression in new developments is accelerating as we get a greater understanding of the role of genes in every aspect of the functioning of the human body. However, in spite of all these increases in our scientific knowledge and the money thrown at the problem a baldness cure has seemed to be as far away as ever. That is until now. The evidence comes from two separate sets of research being undertaken in America and England respect moreEmbryonic stem cells and reprogrammed skin cells are clearly distinguishable
WASHINGTON - Researchers at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) have shown that there are certain molecular differences between embryonic stem cells and skin cells skin cells reprogrammed into embryonic-like cells. Their work has made them the first ever research team to show that the two cell types are clearly distinguishable from each other. The team’s study [...] moreHybrid Hearts: Stem Cell Transplants 2.0
“Can we use stem cells to make a new heart/eye/lung/liver etc?” This is the predictable and perennial question that comes up from at least one student when we are looking at stem cells, genetic engineering, cell differentiation and transplanting. Until now, the answer has (perhaps in an oversimplified way) been ‘no’. We can use stem cell transplants to treat lymphoma . Recently a young woman had a trachea transplant based on stem cell technology . Skin grafts from a patient’s own culture more$60m Funding for Stem Cell Research
In June this year, the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine approved $60m worth of funding to fund 15 grants aimed at moving some of the stunning results from stem cells from the lab to clinical practice. The pace of progress with stem cell reseach means that results can progress from project conception to clinic use in ten years - a very rapid time. These grants mean that we will be able to take advantage of this exciting technology that much faster. California funds the bigge moreStem Cells Part 2: The Ethics
Panel discussion on the ethical ramifications of stem cell research. The late Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan said that “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts.” In Part 2, the ethicists deliver their opinions. Colleen Carroll Campbell would have us believe (Dissolution of bioethics council is a loss for America 7-2-09) that George W. Bush was a wonderful intellectual with no bias when he formed his Council on Bioethics. Now that Obama has disbanded the Council whatever Obama does it will surely be biased. What she doesn’t mention is that several years ago Bush removed two of the members of the Council because they disagreed with his position on stem cell research and replaced them with people who sid moreStem cell news — differences and ethics

t I looked into stem cell therapy at Northwestern Memorial in Chicago in 2006 (before I even knew hESCs were an option). It was close to $100k, none of which my insurance would pay. I do not at all feel Dr. Shroff is overcharging. There are clinics everywhere that are priced similarly to Dr. Shroff's where you only get several days worth of treatment as opposed to two months plus room and board. moreCoverstory | Boulder Weekly: The only independent newspaper in Boulder, Colorado
