Open Question: Best place for mini lathe accessories?
What are some good sources for getting mini lathe accessories such as quick change tool posts, chucks, and all the other good little things? There are almost unlimited options online, but I like to look at and hold things before I buy them, and I like to shops used a fair bit. First of all, I'd like to say I know that these questions have been answered here before in some way, shape, or form, but I'm looking for answers specific to my situation. Alright, so a friend and I are looking into starting an online business this summer, selling items we're making on his mini lathe (pens, etc.) His mom already has an online business but she says she doesn't know the answers to our specific problems. My dad is also a computer programmer, so he can help me with my website. So, my questions are: 1.) Where can I get a website for cheap, or better yet free, where we can name it however we please (for example www.ourname.com, not www.ourname.someotherwebsite.com) 2.) Is there a license that is needed to sell items that we make ourselves? We live in Virginia, if that helps. 3.) Do we need to charge some type of tax? 4.) How can we charge a credit card or Paypal? Is there a way to setup Paypal on our site? Thanks in advance for any answers you give, and even the slightest bit help! moreResolved Question: I want to learn to cut........?

I recently bought myself a mini lathe to try my hand at wood turning. Being a complete novice, I was wondering if anybody could help me in a couple of areas. Are there any stores that sell this stuff, or do I have to order most of it online? moreResolved Question: I need a wood lathe for birdhouse and dollhouse construction.?

want a reliable small lathe, have been looking at clarke, scheppach, axminster, charnwood, sip... ... any recommendations? would prefer variable speed, will be turning small bowls as well as spindles. thanks! moreVoting Question: Problem with lathe speed control device?
I have a small 7x12 mini metalworking lathe with a variable speed motor. I found out that the speed control device inside needs to be replaced. I already tried to replace some of the components inside but that did not do anything. The speed control device has a number on the back that reads: SEIG-FC250JSMD. The best price for this speed controller is about $90 and I don't want to buy another one when the original one died so easily. Is it possible that I can get a heavy duty one that is compatible with the same machine? The instructions for the lathe do not say what the motor specifications are. The speed control device only has a label that says 110 volts. moreResolved Question: Metalworking lathe does not work?
I have a Cummins 7x12 mini metal lathe. It is a great machine but the motor speed controller has died. The motor on the lathe only runs at full speed or sometimes won't run at all. The motor will run normal for a while but then it will die without blowing the fuse. I replaced the rheostat and both MOSFET transistors already and nothing has changed. I don't want to try to replace anything on the speed control anymore because of how easy the machine broke when the problems started happening. I was machining aluminum stock with a sharp cutter when the cutter took to deep of a cut and got stuck around the workpiece. The motor instantly shut down and I figured all that had happened was that the fuse had failed. I replaced the 4amp fuse with a new one and it seemed alright for a while. Then a few minutes later, the machine was going full speed and blew another fuse. Now, I want to replace the entire speed control but not spend $120. Can I possibly modify a wood router speed control? moreResolved Question: Are those mini carrots grown that way, or are they regular carrots which have been ground and polished?
They look suspiciously like they've been put through a lathe or something and polished up to look nice. If so, this seems like deceit, fraud, and misrepresentation! Not to mention wasteful!! But if these things come out of the ground that way, then my apologies to the carrot dudes. moreResolved Question: can you use a mini metal lathe for small wood work like pen making?
