So I've talked before on here, about a man I've been talking to for almost 5 months. We Met online and have been talking on the phone since, as well as exchanging pictures. We have found out so much about each other and created such a bond. I'm not in love yet, but I feel myself slipping at times. We are spending the first week of July vacationing together. I'm on the far Eastern coast, and he'll be flying to California to train for something like fifteen weeks (thirteen weeks basic, then two extra weeks of specialization training). During this time, we'll only be able to communicate through snail mail (letters). No email, no phones, no nothing. I can also send him little things - I plan on sending him pictures, lots of letters, and some other things, but I'd like some ideas for the following: 1. When he leaves for boot, I am going to have a bunch of his friends say something personal and encouraging to him on video (we'll film it and send it to him on a disc or pen drive), along with letters. I was hoping to make him a t-shirt was well, that has his name on the back (with all of his friends' signatures) and something catchy about the Marines on the front. :) 2. While he's at boot, I would like to be able to send him some stuff, not just letters.. any ideas ? Thanks ! p.s. Can anyone tell or show me when the last time the Obama camp reached out to the working poor and middle class of this country? These are the people that actually work for a living. However, many are facing loss of jobs, homes in foreclosure and an uncertain future for them and their children. I'll keep this brief. He is 90 and was in WWII. He has NEVER spoken about his involvement in the war but we know that he varies between saying he was a Royal Marine and a Commando and that he says that he doesn't speak about the war for various reasons...either he cant remember, it's too upsetting or he isn't 'allowed' too. We also know that he spent long periods in Alexandria, Ceylon and Malaysia. Now...at a recent family gathering, he had a short sleeve shirt on (something that I have NEVER seen him in) and I saw his old military tattoos and I caught sight of a dagger tattoo that had sort of wings at the top of it on his forearm. Upon looking on the internet, I've noticed that this symbol is that of the SAS. I understand that without asking him and him agreeing to talk about it, I probably wont ever know but could this tattoo on a man of this age alone be an indicator that he was special forces? Oh and for the record, I would never force him to talk about his past, nor would I snoop into online records etc We know that he never claimed his medals, simply wanting to forget about his war experiences. We also know that he served a total of 12 years...long after WWII had ended. What are your thoughts? Oh, I should add. My fiancee was in the Marine Corps for 8 years (his last day in was April 1st). During his time in the military he served in Iraq, got a divorce and his ex-wife moved his girls all the way across the country (he hasn't been able to see them in over a year). We moved back home to TX from CA where he was stationed and it seems like our lives are falling apart now. He is angry all the time, makes rude comments to me about lots of things (yesterday we got into a fight over the color shirt I bought him and the fact that I cooked him breakfast), and last night he broke down in tears and said that he wants to quit life. Nothing is going the way he thought it would. He got out of the military in hopes that he would get to see his kids but his ex-wife still won't let him, and he is working a job that he hates. He says that he doesn't want to go back to the military because he doesn't want to put me through deployments but I honestly think that is what he needs to do. okay about 4 or 5 years ago me and my family moved into a house that had had three previouse owners. nobody knows anything about the first owners. and i mean nobody. the second owners were said to be nice people and they had kids. nobody kows why they left the just did. now me and my family live here. after we moved here weird things started happening. the first day that we were there i was sisting in the living room and the rest of the family had to go get the last couple of boxes from the old house while i pulled the boxes out of the truck that we had rented, i was sitting there and out of the corner of my eye i saw something up in the air conditioning vent, i looked up and i saw a clocked face staring at me, after what seemed like an eternity it started to move back further into the vent.my sister sarted changing personality wise. she became very angrey all the time and would always fight with my parents. she would stay in her room all day. i started noticing other things like shadows out of the corners of my eyes. i would here faint talking when i was home alone. i always felt like i was being watched. one time when i was home alone and i was cleaning my room i had my stereo on and it turned its self up as loud as it could go. then my dog go cancer and died. after that things got quit for a little bit. than everything started up again. and i started hereing banging noises at night. my sister moved off to college and her personality changed all over agiain and she was nice and her old self again. my mom got the house blesses by a catholic priest at our chirch. things got quite for around 3 months. than one night it started agin. i was in my room and my bed kindof shook. i got up and turned on my light and when i did something in my closet fell. i kindof just blew it off and went back to bed. the next couple of weeks things started happening more frequently. the noises started again i started seeing things again. a couple months later my sister came home from college for the summer. she then went through another change and went back to her rebelious self. one night i was sitting in the dinning room and i saw a lady walk down the hallway and up the stairs. it was a dark figure with curly hair. i would say around 5'6. later that night my sister was in her room and she had those little door bead things. well she was laying there in bed when everyone else was asleep. her beeds started moving like someone had walked into the room, after the beads started moving my siter saw the exact same thing i saw with the lady. the lady stood there and staired at my sister than turned around and walked out. i often hear people walking around. the other night i was sleeping in my sisters room because she was gone and her bed was more comfortable than mine. the beads had been talken down after my sister left for the last time. well i was sleeping in there and the door was closed. it was all dark except for a little light that came in from the window and landed on the door. all of a sudden i saw the same lady standing there. she never walked off she just faded away. things quited down for a month or two than i started seeing things like shadows again. my dogs constantly sit up in the hallway when im the only one home and just stare in doorway or in corners, sometimes they will grwol and bark. i will go and look over were they are looking and i will find nothing. more resently my sisters room door open and closes throughout the day with no explination. the other night i was in my room and it was pitch black. my eyes ajusted to the light and i heard someone walking across my room i looked around and i saw a shadow of a man who was bald and about 6 foot. he stoped moving and faded away. i sat there for a bit then after about 10 minutes i heard movement at the foot of my bed than it felt like something was sitting on the foot of my bed. a couple nights later i was going to sleep again and i heard my robo saphin robot thing go off randomly. i got up quickly and at the same time i heard something take off going across my room and it sounded like it was nocking things over. i never told my parents about this because every time that i have after the blessing my mom just blows it off and says that its impossible because we got our house blessed even though i haed heard that blessings wear off. in my parents bed room and the upstairs game room and my sisters room i always feel like im being watched. just two days ago i felt something pull on my shirt. all these things happen randomly and not constantly. i think that people that read this should know that my sisters had a weegy board and they asked it when they would die and it answered. is my house haunted in your oppinion? Well I'm going to a DC trip for a conference at the Pentagon, Marine Corps, etc.. It is for 6 days and for each conference I need to wear very nice clothing (dresses, dress pants, nice shirts or blouses). Im 17 years old, and I want to be a U.S. Marine more than anything... When I went to talk to a recruiter, I was told that in order for me to join, I have to get my three tattoos removed. One below my collar bone because it can be seen when wearing a button up shirt. one on the back of my neck, because its a half an inch to high. And a cross w/prayer on the inside of my lower arm. As I said, I want to enlist into the Marine Corps more than anything and Im completely fine with getting them removed! my question is.. I was at personal training today with my recruiter and the other guys. While we were stretching out, an older lady came up to us. I have to add the fact that she was an immigrant. I knew it because she had a very thick accent. Anyway, she saw the Marine Corps shirts we were wearing and ask us a very hurtful question. She asked, "are you guys training to kill people?" She then said," It's people like you who kill people and cause there to be no peace in the world. If everyone stopped killing we would have peace." My recruiter answered her very respectfully. He said, "No ma'am. We are not training just to kill people, we are training to defend our nation. She said some other words after his statement and then she left. I thought to myself, people are going to ask me these types of question all the time. I know what i would say. I would be as respectful and i can because i know it is not that easy to say everybody stop killing. I know that is NEVER going to happen. People have a habit of wanting to rule over others. I mean that is even in the bible if you want to be religious about it. It was funny because she is a new American and trying to say defending our nation is wrong, when she moved from wherever she came from just to come here. She is against the military. I've bought a pair of cammies and some combat boots because I want to get a feel for running in boots and the trousers. The eagle looks really big to me, its just over 2 1/2" tall and wide. should i take it back? btw it looks black but it really is brown.I do wish it was black though.
